I have tried every headlamp under the sun for the last few years for fishing and everyone has had some fault or another, The best I have found for general use has been a Princeton Tec, and there not too expensive.

theres a place called deal extreme where i had a headlamp from will try and find the link for you. I think the one i got was about $15 and it's brilliant. only fault is it's a bit bulky but for the price it's brilliant. Reacharchable and lasts a fair while. will try and find the site then i'll post link. ;)

The Petzl range of head torches work really well, especially the tikka or xp models, or for a good budget lamp theres an online company called ALPKIT who do a decent one quite cheaply.
