when i put my foot on the brake comming to a junction or just slowing down. get a bad juddering and vibration. any ideas ?

if its only doing it while you brake it will probably be a brake problem ,,,, sounds like warped discs to me.

but in your post your dont say where the judder feels like its coming from..

Think you need to describe the symtoms a bit more.
Is is a steering vibration or the whole vehicle?
Could be a buggered prop UJ or track rod end, loose wheel bearing any number of issues.

for safety jack it up and check for play if discs apply light pressure to brake pedal when slowing down if pedal moves up and down under your foot check out discs

check the UJs on the propshafts, if its a little bit clunky when changing gear also this is a sign they are wearing.

if its fitted with abs and the light sometimes comes on, and sometimes when you brake the peddle falls down and then shudders........ it needs bleeding the braking system....
but like some one else said a arped disc can make it feel funny aswell
